Steven Clark - Vice President, Business Incubation Services

Steve has 20 years of professional experience in the information technology industry. He was a founding executive at a start-up that evolved into the $30 million software spinout of a major research organization. He has extensive experience in building sales teams, marketing plans, business partnerships and international distribution channels. He has been integral in planning and executing business strategies involving the re-engineering and positioning of information technology companies. Steve is currently the Director of the Information Technology Incubator at the BTC.


Richard P. Focht - Director, Commercialization Services

At present, Rick is the Director of the Capital Access Office. For more than 25 years, he has successfully met the challenge of providing access to financing for middle market and technology based businesses. His experiences range from director of a state agency responsible for multi-million dollar direct loan and loan guarantee programs to identifying diverse investment opportunities for a venture capital partnership. Responsibilities at the venture firm included negotiating, closing, monitoring and exiting from both direct investments and those conceived by others. Direct investment experience includes specialty retailing, manufacturing, biotechnology, medical products and computer hardware and software firms ranging from early stage to leveraged buyouts.

Rick’s consulting assignments include: raising private equity for technology firms; providing due diligence for private investors; reviewing the operations of local non-profit corporations and making recommendations for local the venture capital pool; the establishment of four regional non-profit adjunct organizations focused on providing access to capital for manufacturing firms and technology companies


Burton Page - Director, Bioscience Commercialization

Burton Page brings over 15 years of experience in corporate strategy and policy, business development and regulatory affairs, with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical, vaccine and diagnostic industries. He is well-versed in the commercialization of new healthcare products and services, especially the creation of joint ventures, licensing agreements, and other strategic business relationships.

Prior to joining TechColumbus he was engaged by QED Technologies, a business development consulting firm for small and mid-cap life science companies, where he reviewed, drafted and negotiated various business development agreements. Prior to QED, Mr. Page was Director, Public Policy for SmithKline Beecham (SB), now GlaxoSmithKline, where he provided strategic analysis to SB’s pharmaceutical, vaccine, diagnostic and pharmacy benefit management businesses to leverage the Company’s products and services through public sector programs and initiatives. He also served as Counsel for SB, providing legal advice to the clinical laboratory and pharmaceutical divisions on commercial, regulatory and legislative matters. Prior to SB, Mr. Page served as a healthcare attorney for two Philadelphia law firms, where he specialized in commercial transactions, business planning, and regulatory matters for the firm’s corporate and institutional clients.

Mr. Page holds a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University School of Law, a Master of Science degree in Health Policy and Administration from The Pennsylvania State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.


David J. Cattey - Senior VP, TechColumbus


Dave has served as the executive director of the Business Technology Center since 1990. In this capacity, he recently oversaw a gargantuan expansion project during which the incubator grew from 25,000 to 60,000 sq. ft. The newly expanded 15-tenant facility is located on The Ohio State University’s Science and Technology Campus.

Prior to joining the BTC, Dave spent six years as vice president of Master Systems, a niche-market software company specializing in products for non-profit organizations. He also was previously associated with a start-up in San Diego called Healthcare Foundation. Additionally, Dave has served as Director of Administrative Services for The Ohio State University Development Fund.

Dave is active in the National Business Incubation Association and is a frequent speaker at their national conferences. He represents the BTC in TechPartners at The Ohio State University, and was formerly chairman of the Edison Technology Incubators Directors Council for the Ohio Department of Development. He is the 1995 recipient of The Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Supporter of Entrepreneurship category.
